What is SafariLingo?
SafariLingo: Safari Guide is an iPhone/iPad app inspired by a real Serengeti safari. It’s built to help you identify and understand wildlife offline, record sightings, and use the guide in 9 languages.
Does SafariLingo work offline?
Yes. SafariLingo is designed for places with weak signal so you can browse animal knowledge while you are out on a game drive.
How many species are included?
SafariLingo covers 300+ species (mammals, birds, and reptiles), focused on the Serengeti ecosystem and what you might encounter on safari.
What kind of information does each animal page include?
Animal profiles include taxonomy, identification points, habitat/diet/activity, IUCN status, observation tips, and photography tips.
Can I search and filter animals quickly?
Yes. You can filter by animal type, sighting status, and Big Five, and sort by initial letter or rarity level.
Does SafariLingo include animal sounds?
Yes. Many species include real animal calls.
How do sighting records work?
You can record place, time, and photos with one tap. SafariLingo can read location from a photo’s EXIF data or you can log your current GPS position.
Do sightings appear on a map?
The 2.0 release notes say every animal you’ve encountered appears on the map, so you can review your safari story at a glance.
Does SafariLingo have achievements and statistics?
Yes. SafariLingo includes progress stats, a sighting overview, and an achievement poster you can generate and share.
Which languages are supported?
Nine languages: English, Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, French, Arabic, German, Japanese, and Korean.
What devices are supported?
SafariLingo is available on iPhone and iPad, and supports iOS 13.0 and later.
